This type of dancing is energetic and fun, consisting of unique moves, fancy footwork, big leaps, kicks and turns. It is a more technical style of modern dance and has become one of the most popular dance styles in recent years, mainly due to its popularity on television shows, movies, music videos and commercials.
Hip-hop dance refers to street dance styles primarily performed to hip-hop music . It includes a wide range of styles primarily breaking, locking, and popping. It’s probably the coolest form of dance that has more to do with individual style and flare.
Tap (B.A.L Examination & Street)
Tap dancing is one of the most fun styles of dance. It is rhythm tapped out with the toe or heel by a dancer wearing tap shoes.
Street tap – danced to contemporary music, very cool and has more to do with individual style and flare. Heaps of fun and challenging!
Examination tap – At Dance It, we train our students in B.A.L examination tapping. The kids learn from a set syllabus then are examined by B.A.L examiners. It is a great way to learn the fundamentals of tap, equipping the dancer with the background & ability to perform any style of tapping.
Ballet (R.A.D Examination & Open)
Ballet is the most important form of dance to learn. It teaches proper body form, poise, and strength needed in all forms of dance. It is the basis of dance and all dancers are encouraged to participate if they want to excel in the other dance styles.
At Dance It we teach R.A.D examination ballet where the students learn from a set syllabus then are examined by R.A.D examiners.
Open ballet classes are where the kids learn the technique of ballet (no syllabus) with out exams.
Musical theatre combines singing, dancing and acting. Think Broadway musicals like Cats, Wicked, Les Miserable’s, Matilda, Mary Poppins, Hair Spray or Annie to name a few.
More recently, the television show Glee has made musical theatre very popular. These classes teach expression and movement. If your a budding star, these are the classes are a must.
Stretch, Strength & Conditioning
Every dancer should participate in these classes!! Flexibility & strength are essential in a dancer. The kids will also learn stamina and burn off even more energy!
Contemporary dance has grown to become one of the dominant genres for formally trained dancers throughout the world,
It combines the strong and controlled legwork of ballet with modern dance’s stress on the torso, floor work ,fall and recovery, and improvisation characteristic of modern dance.
Contemporary is not as structured as ballet but still teaches the technical aspects of ballet.
These classes are designed to prepare the kids for out of studio performances such as shopping centres, sporting events, clubs, talent quests etc. They combine dancing and singing in all styles of dance.
These classes are for students who wish to participate in competitions, eisteddfods or talent quests against other studios either in a troupe or as a soloist (private lesson students). The students are encouraged to be participating in jazz, tap & classical ballet in order to join these classes. There is an audition process in order to participate and usually these students have already required a few years of training.
Acro refers to the classes that teach acrobatics & stunts. We have a brand new 10m long floor mat where the kids learn to tumble & trick. Cartwheels, somersaults, back flips, walkovers, tinskies etc Heaps of fun for everyone & a must for the well rounded dancer.
This class teaches kids how to be B Boyz & Girlz. A style of acrobatic dancing with intricate footwork, tumbles, freezes and spinning head stands.
All that cool ‘on the ground’ stuff the ‘Dauntless Movement Crew’ and ‘Justice Crew’ do. Elbow and knee pads are essential for this class.
This class is exactly what it’s title suggests. BOYZ ONLY!! no girls allowed. This class is taught by a male teacher for just the boys. It is a hip hop style class where the boys can learn & flourish. Yep, boys will be boys.
Singing & Private Lessons
Singing lessons are conducted as a half hour private lesson. The students learn singing techniques as well as microphone technique.
Private lessons are for students who would like to compete in eisteddfods, competitions or talent quests OR for those students who would like to improve on their skills. Each lesson is 45 mins.
Toddlers & Tiny Tots
At this age, dance is ALL ABOUT FUN! Kids will learn how to move parts of their bodies independently then learn how to co-ordinate them together to make cool dance moves. They will learn some singing & acting too. It’s about gaining confidence and setting them up for learning new exciting things.
An aerobic fitness programme featuring movements inspired by various styles of Latin American dance and performed primarily to Latin American dance music. Calorie burner!
Using wooden drum sticks provided in the class, members smack the ground repeatedly to a fast-paced soundtrack of songs whilst working the legs & torso. Total tone up work out!
Adults Dancin’ With the Stars
Ballroom dancing. Learn how to Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Quickstep, Viennese Waltz, Rumba, Cha cha, Swing, Jive, Samba, Mambo, Bolero, and Paso Doble`. No need to bring a partner. Burn calories without even realising you are AND you’ll be dancing with the stars in no time!
Adults Street Tap
Danced to contemporary music, very cool and has more to do with individual style and flare. Heaps of fun and challenging! You will sweat and your heart will be pumping!
A Hindu spiritual and ascetic discipline, a part of which, including breath control, simple meditation, and the adoption of specific bodily postures, is widely practised for health and relaxation.
Aerial silk (also known as aerial contortion or aerial ribbons) is acrobatics while hanging from a special fabric off the floor. The silks can be replaced by a large ring or swinging bar. The kids will develop strength and flexibility. It’s super exciting and a fantastic skill to add to your dance repertoire!
